University of Maribor is the second largest Slovene university and has seventeen faculties (Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Energy Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Faculty of Logistics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Tourism, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law).
Research is the cornerstone of scientific and artistic excellence and high-quality teaching. In 2012, the University of Maribor adopted the Research and Development Strategy with the vision of becoming a research university recognized for its scientific and artistic achievements.
UM’s mission in the field of research and development, innovation and art is to acquire, preserve and spread knowledge through the formation of interdisciplinary research teams able to produce outstanding scientific and artistic achievements, manage research and art projects, participate in international networks and centres of excellence, thus enabling the active participation of students in R&D and artistic endeavours, contributing to the development of society, addressing global challenges and encouraging economic development of the region and the wider environment.
The primary goal with regard to R&D, innovation and art is to foster a creative environment encouraging academic freedom in order to promote sustainable development and produce outstanding scientific achievements, thus ensuring greater visibility of UM both in Slovenia and abroad.
The University of Maribor is the first Slovene university to be awarded the “HR Excellence in Research” badge and is obliged to respect the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers
The University of Maribor successfully transfers knowledge and technologies to the economic and social environment. Support for the activities of researchers and students of the University of Maribor in the field of knowledge and technology transfer is carried out by the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office, which provides researchers and students of the University of Maribor assistance in the protection and commercialization of their know-how, technologies and ideas. Thus, the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office activity makes an essential contribution to the realization of the University of Maribor’s mission, i.e., to contribute to the development of society, addressing global challenges and economic progress in the region and the wider area.
As one of the 15 faculties of the University of Maribor, the Faculty of logistics has 15 years of experience in conducting distance learning and videoconferencing lectures. From March 2020, it also conducts hybrid teaching. Our services and activities’ quality is a fundamental value and mission in all areas of our operations. The Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor has all its study programs accredited with the National Agency for Quality in Higher Education (NAKVIS) and demonstrates excellence in a global environment with two international accreditations; European Council for Business Education (ECBE) and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
